한중도시우호협회측은 11월21일 보도자료에서 “권기식 한중도시우호협회장은 21일 오후 중국 외교부 대회의실에서 열린 베이징대 국제방문학자 초청 외교부 세미나에 참석해 한중 공공교류 활성화에 대해 발언했다”고 전하고 “이날 세미나에는 중국 외교부에서 자오리젠(趙立堅) 대변인 등 국ㆍ과장급 간부 8명이 참석했으며, 베이징대에서는 국제방문학자 30여명이 참석해 중국의 대외정책과 글로벌 거버넌스 등에 대해 토론했다”고 알렸다.
권기식 회장은 이날 "한중 수교 30년 동안 교역액이 48배 증가하는 등 비약적인 발전을 하고 있으나, 사드 문제와 코로나19 팬데믹으로 양국 관계는 만족스러운 상황이 아니다"며 "한중 관계의 지속적인 발전을 위해 시진핑 주석이 최근 강조한 한중 1.5 트랙 교류와 지방정부, 청년 교류의 활성화가 매우 중요하다"고 말했다. 이에 대해, 중국 외교부의 자오리젠 대변인은 "한중 관계가 지난 30년간 비약적인 발전을 했고 중국은 한국과의 지방정부 및 청년 교류를 적극 지원할 것"이라고 밝혔다.
