한중도시우호협회측은 20일자 보도자료에서 “권기식 한중도시우호협회장이 지난 20일 오후 9시 30분 방송된 중국 상하이미디어그룹(SMG) 소속 동방TV 특집방송 '세계와의 대화'에 출연해 청리 미국 브루킹스연구소 존 L. 손톤 중국연구센터장과 함께 중국 공산당 제 20차 전국대표대회와 중국의 대외관계 등에 대해 대담했다. 이날 방송은 상하이미디어그룹이 20차 당 대회를 맞아 지난 17일부터 5일간 특별 편성한 시사 프로그램으로 권 회장과 청리 차이나센터장 등 세계적인 중국 전문가 10여명을 특별초청해 대담하는 특집방송이다. 권 회장은 한국을 포함한 비영어권 출신으로는 유일하게 초청을 받았다”고 전하고 “권기식 회장은 대담에서 ‘중국은 2012년 18차 당 대회 이후 국제 사회의 종속변수에서 미국과 맞먹는 주도국가가 되었다’며 ‘당 창건 100년이 된 2021년 14억 인민이 빈곤에서 벗어나 샤오캉 사회를 건설한 것은 인류 문명사의 기적’이라고 말했다. 권기식 회장은 중국의 글로벌 거버넌스와 관련해 ‘현재 국제정치의 특징은 미국의 영향력 퇴조와 중국의 강력한 도전이다. 미국은 아프카니스탄 등 대부분의 국제분쟁 개입에 실패했고 자국 이기주의에 빠져 코로나19 팬데믹과 빈곤 문제, 기후변화 등 글로벌 거버넌스를 외면하고 있다’고 지적했다. 한중 관계와 관련해 ‘한중 수교 30년의 역사는 한중 양국의 협력이 양국 모두에게 엄청난 경제적 이익과 발전을 가져다주었다는 것을 보여준다’며 ‘성년이 된 한중 관계는 상호 핵심이익에 대한 존중과 협력을 통해 더욱 굳건해져야 한다’고 강조했다”고 알렸다.
이날 방송은 동방TV를 통해 15분간 중국 전역에 방송됐으며, 상하이미디어그룹 산하 신문과 방송으로 다시 보도됐다. 이 특집방송은 중국은행의 후원으로 마련됐으며, 중국 정부와 경제계가 깊은 관심을 보인 것으로 알려졌다. 상하이미디어그룹은 중국 상하이에 본사를 둔 아시아 최대 미디어그룹으로 동방TV와 제일재경TV 등 15개 지상파 및 위성TV 채널, 13개 라디오 채널, 15개 디지털 유료 채널, 8개 지면 매체, 91개 미디어 관계회사 등을 보유한 종합미디어그룹.
