한중도시우호협회측은 14일 발표한 보도자료에서 “권기식 한중도시우호협회장은 14일 오전 베이징시 스청(西城)구 정협문사관 5층에서 열린 중국인민정치협상회의 초청 북경대 국제방문학자 심포지움에 참석해 한중 관계 등에 대해 토론했다. 이날 심포지움에는 장징안(張京安) 정협 제안위원회 부주임과 카오예(高葉) 외사위원회 부주임 등 정협측 인사 12명과 북경대 국제방문학자 41명이 참석했다”고 전했다.
권 회장은 이날 방문학자 대표로 인사말을 했다. 권기식 회장은 인사말에서 "오는 16일 개최되는 중국 공산당 제 20차 전국대표대회의의 성공을 바란다"며 "중국의 최고 정책자문기구인 정협 초청 심포지움을 통해 한중 관계를 포함한 중국의 글로벌 거버넌스를 올바로 이해할 수 있게 될 것으로 기대한다"고 말했다. 권기식 회장은 또 "수교 30주년을 맞는 한중 관계의 발전을 위해 정협이 한중 지방정부 교류 및 공공교류에 적극적인 관심과 지원을 해주기 바란다"고 제안했다.
이에 대해 카오예 외사 부주임은 "한중 관계의 발전을 위해 지방정부 교류와 문화행사 등을 적극 지원하겠다"고 말했다.

In a press release released on the 14th, the Korea-China Urban Friendship Association said, “Kwon Ki-sik, president of the Korea-China Urban Friendship Association, attended the Symposium of International Visiting Scholar of Peking University, invited to the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, held on the 5th floor of the Political Bureau in Shicheng District, Beijing on the morning of the 14th. We discussed relationships. The symposium was attended by 12 political party officials, including Vice President Zhang Jing-An of the Political Consultative Proposal Committee and Cao Ye, Vice President of the Foreign Affairs Committee, and 41 international visiting scholars from Peking University.
Chairman Kwon delivered his greetings as the representative of visiting scholars on the day. In his greetings, Chairman Kwon Ki-sik said, “I wish for the success of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China to be held on the 16th. I hope it will be possible,” he said. Chairman Kwon Ki-sik also suggested, "For the development of Korea-China relations, which marks the 30th anniversary of diplomatic ties, I hope that the Korean-Chinese government will take active interest in and support local government exchanges and public exchanges."
In response, Vice-Director of Foreign Affairs Kaoye said, "We will actively support local government exchanges and cultural events for the development of Korea-China relations."
